Themes

What we talk about

Sub-goal 1: Countering hate

The project aims to counteract homophobic, transphobic and discriminatory attitudes and actions among participants by being non-confrontational and dialogue-based. Aiming to build a common understanding around the different groups and their rights.

Objective 2: Create a safer learning environment for LGBTIQ+ participants

The project seeks to create a safer learning environment for LGBTIQ+ participants by contributing to a broader understanding of discrimination, values and rights in Norwegian society.

Goal 3: Prevent negative social control

The project aims to prevent negative social control through information and networking: With the workshops, we reach out to LGBTIQ+ participants throughout the country. This group lacks networks and is exposed to discrimination, bullying and negative social control due to their gender identity and/or bullying.

The workshop provides them with information about their rights, assistance and counselling and connection to our inclusive social activities and networks. Those who show interest are recruited as volunteers and/or experience consultants.

How is the course designed and what does it contain?

This course is designed to be non-confrontational and aims to build a common understanding around the different groups and their rights. It is an interactive course that includes exercises and group discussions on topics such as discrimination, values and rights in Norwegian society. Furthermore, the course utilises intersectional analysis to highlight how discriminatory mechanisms can overlap, regardless of the basis of discrimination whether it be religion, ethnicity, gender, disability or gender and sexuality. Topics covered include sexual orientation, gender expression and gender identity, cultural norms, different family forms and fundamental rights enjoyed by citizens of Norway.
