The event marks World Mental Health Day 2025

Join us for a workshop on how we can build resilient queer communities and how we can stand stronger together on digital platforms!

This year's World Mental Health Day has the theme "mental preparedness". Mental preparedness is about building resilience to withstand difficult situations.

On the World Mental Health Day website, a photo taken on the night of the London Pub terror attack on 25 June 2022 is used.

The image can be interpreted to ask the following question: Were they as individuals and we as a society ready for what was going to happen later that night? As individuals, we can never be expected to be psychologically prepared for a terrorist attack. We are not meant to endure something like that.

At the same time, there is a difference between being left alone with the burden and being rigged in such a way that we can take care of each other when terrible things happen. The healthcare system was unprepared, and the work to make the healthcare system work better for minorities must continue. But we queers must also take matters into our own hands. We are the ones who are best at embracing each other.

Resilience is something we create together. It is in safe spaces that we grow into resilient people and it is through good relationships that we can withstand difficulties.

Programme:

Part 1 (14:30-16:30)

  • Queer World introduces the concept of psychological preparedness and what it entails.
  • We talk about what it does to us to live in an uncertain world and talk about the concept of emotional sustainability.
  • We work together on what mental health preparedness can look like in a queer context.

Part 2 (16:30-18:00)

  • Nordic Safe Cities presents itself and its projects on safe digital cities in the Nordic region.
  • We are working together on how we can build on these experiences.

Part 3 (18:00-19:30)

  • We have dinner together at Skeiv Verdens Skeiv café.

There is a lot of good health in activism. By standing tall and demanding that society gives us equal rights and treats us with respect, we also strengthen ourselves.

Let Anders know if you would like to participate at anders@skeivverden.no

We look forward to seeing you!

Best regards,
Skeiv Verden
