We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended Skeiv Verdens International Conference on Intersectionality, held on November 7, 2024. Whether you joined us in person at The Conduit or participated online, your involvement helped make this event a success.
This year’s conference highlighted the importance of intersectionality in LGBTQ+ research. Recent years have seen increased attention to the experiences of queer individuals from minority backgrounds, both in Norway and internationally. The concept of "intersectionality" has become a key framework for understanding how different identity markers interact with societal inclusion and exclusion mechanisms. We wish that research and educational institutions will integrate a more intersectional approach, so that we can work to together for a more inclusive society.
We were honored to host speakers who are leading the way in this field. The conference was opened by the amazing Noman Mubashir, talking about his own experiences living with multiple minority identities. Further we had Dr. Ilan H. Meyer, known for his minority stress model linking social stressors to LGBTQ+ mental health, Dominic Davies, founder of Pink Therapy, and Dr. Roshan das Nair, who explores the intersection of sexuality, ethnicity, migration, and health. The event also featured a panel discussion on inclusive research for transgender people, which emphasized the practical benefits such research brings to the community. The day ended with three parallel sessions about “From research to practice”, “Queerness and migration”, and “Being a queer minority in academia”, offering in-depth discussions between speakers and participants.
We also want to express our gratitude to The Conduit for hosting us and providing a great space for the event. Your support was essential in making the conference run smoothly, and we are thankful for your partnership.

The conference underscored the importance of embracing complexity in research to better capture the nuanced realities of LGBTQ+ lives. By fostering greater equity and understanding, we can work together to address the diverse needs of our communities.
